Issue 4

Hello 2020

Happy New Year! It is the year 2020 and we’re back with a fresh new look, courtesy of our sensational new Art Director Mr James Norton. We hope all of our readers had a lovely time over the festive period and have come back in January feeling motivated, refreshed and enthused.

In this issue, we look at Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD,) which is prevalent at this time of year. We also tackle ways in which to ask for a pay rise at work, something that isn’t always the most comfortable thing to do but that can be integral for career progression development. Sometimes if you don’t ask, you don’t get!

Our feature article looks at transforming the workplace – discussing gender identity and how it is dealt with in a professional environment. As a magazine aligned with LGBTQ+ we’re interested in how individuals deal with ‘coming out’ in a business sense. Whether you’re changing your pronouns or transitioning to another gender completely, we wanted to know how this is handled in the industry and whether it is handled well.

This month, we talk to the Founder of SOCIALight about ovaries, something she feels needs to be spoken about more! We also feature interviews with industry professionals Abi Rose and Subha Ganesh.

Issue Four – SOCIALight Magazine

Our MoneyTalk column tackles the subject of mortgages. It can be a bit of a minefield so our insight into the different ways to get onto the property ladder may help kickstart your new year’s resolution of owning a property of your own.

We revisit a previous subject, covered in November’s issue about the lack of women in STEM by researching whether the toys that young girls have available to them are among the culprits suppressing their self-belief and motivation. The findings are very interesting!

As always, we welcome your thoughts and opinions on the conversations we are having. Please do write in with any questions you may have, whether you require advice, have suggestions or opinions on topics we’ve covered or simply to get in touch. info@socialightmagazine.co.uk
