Issue 13 Mental Health

It’s okay to not be okay

This month’s issue focuses on the important topic of mental health. 1 in 4 people suffer from mental health conditions or illnesses, meaning that it’s a lot more common than you might think. In this issue, we cover a range of topics and hear the real stories of people that live with certain mental health conditions and illnesses.

Our A-Z of mental health conditions looks briefly at the list of illnesses that are most commonly experienced in the UK with useful links and helpful information for those looking to get a diagnosis.

Also in this issue, we look at the topic of miscarriage. Last month was miscarriage awareness month and as another subject that isn’t given the spotlight it should be, we discuss why it shouldn’t be a taboo subject and why more women are coming out and sharing their stories.

We feature an article this month about why someone’s body is none of your business. From media comments to bodies being at the forefront of observation and conversation, we discuss why this needs to stop and why it’s a damaging and dangerous thing.

This month we feature two professional interviews with Catherine Schalk and Thea Chippendale, both who touch on the topic of mental health, body positivity and body image. An insightful interview with two brilliant women.

As always, we have our regular columns from the brilliant SOCIALight team. Healthy Place, MoneyTalks, HealthLab, HotSpot, In the News, and our monthly book review. We hope you enjoy!
